Herman Rambow was a cue maker who began making cues in 1915 out of Chicago Illinois. Rambo cues are marked on the shafts and or the forearm of the cue. Rambo cues did not have Stoppers.

Paul Huebler began making pool cues in the early seventies out of Missouri. I believe in the early days Bob Meucci and Paul Hubler worked together to start their companies. Weenie Beenie Helmstetter cue

This cue is not for sale it is an example of refinishing work done here at Proficient Billiards. Helmstetter made for the hand of Weenie Beenie. We did not remove the cap as it was glued on solid and we were afraid of doing damage to the cue. So the window is a bit hazy on the inside. Weenie was in the Color of Money and gave Fat’s his nickname.

Pete Ohmen started Omen cues in 1979 in Florida. Most Omen cues that we see through here are identifiable by the pin that has Omen inscribed on it. 1984 Gus Szamboti cue

This is 1984 Gus Szamboti cue sent in for a refinish and a new lizard wrap by its original owner. The Cortland wrap was replaced with black lizard due to dry rot. The owner made a good choice. This Cognoscenti was sent in for a refinish, and a new linen wrap. The silver oval inlays combined with the ebony points set this cue off from the rest. McDermott D19 cue – Before and After

This McDermott D19 cue is a great example showing how some logos can be brought back to life. Jim McDermott started the McDermott cue company in 1975 in Wisconsin. McDermott cues are easy to identify with the four leaf clover surrounding an M on the butt cap. Later models had a gold decal McDermott logo. Nubs Wagner Nova cue

Pictured is a Nubs Wagner Nova cue that was bought new in 2001 at the Super Billiards Expo. The original owner said he paid $350 at that time. The cue was here for finish work and a new Irish linen wrap. Nova cues are easy to identify by their black phenolic insert on the shaft, or the logo on the butt cap. Also (as pictured) and not always known they have their company stamp under the linen wrap.

Here is a Cognoscenti cue that was sent in for a refinish, and a new lizard wrap. We also custom fit two Predator 314 shafts to it. Alternating black and white points look really awesome on this Schon cue. It’s something that you usually don’t see. It has the older gold letter Schon shaft, which we are able to maintain during the finish process. This one came in for a refinish, and a leather wrap. Schon cue – Logo in ivory window


This is a rarely seen Schon cue with the logo in one of the ivory windows. Almost all Schon cues have the logo on the butt cap. It’s an interesting design, with four ebony points featuring floating ivory inlays.

Meucci extreme makeover – before and afters

Bob Meucci is a cue maker who began making pool cues in 1975 out of Mississippi. Meucci cues are some of the most recognized pool cues on the planet. early models had Meucci Originals on the butt sleeve. Later models had the Meucci script writing on the butt cap. Bob now has a line of custom cues that has a BMC logo also.
